African Judo Championships 2024 in Cairo - 190 judokas from across the continent compete

The eyes of the judokas are riveted on the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and they are looking to perform in Cairo. The competition promises to be thrilling. 190 judokas, 108 men and 82 girls, will be on the tatamis.

The last African championships before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games take place in Cairo on 25, 26 and 27 April for the individual competitions and on Sunday 28 April for the team competitions.

At the draw held at the Sonesta Hotel in Cairo on Wednesday, the guidelines and regulations were clearly communicated by the heads of the African Judo Union. Mr Alain Kingue, the Chief Sports Director, Mr Ababakar Ngom, the Chief Refereeing Director, and Mr Raguib Faissal, the Chief Education and Coaching Director, emphasised the importance of discipline and fair play throughout the competition. 

34 countries are taking part in this competition, with 190 athletes. The girls' -48kg, -52kg, -57kg and the boys' -60kg, -66kg categories will be boys. The opening ceremony is also scheduled for Thursday 25 April
